Kindergarten reading is so important. Teaching initial sounds, onset and rime, and CVC words helps students develop skills that will carry the through their school years much faster than rote learning words or phrases. They are all at school, and not off on a 2 week holiday to London, they will need the language longer. To help with this we have designed a series of readers. These can be the focus or part of an English lesson. We have tried to make them students friendly with lively images and with subjects that they should have some knowledge of and interest in. One some we have added the ability to color the worksheets as well to get those creative juices flowing. We add more all the time so be sure to bookmark the site.

CVC Reading skills are the cornerstone of emergent readers. Once students have worked out, and its not always an easy realization, that the 44 sounds (depending where you are) are all blended together to make words and that there is a relationship there it is like a firework going off. Suddenly sounds are being put together, simple words actually become simple and skills like segmenting and constructing words become common place. We have hundreds of worksheets on developing these skills, and now we have the readers below to help both practice and consolidate these skills.
