• Fruit Dominoes and Riddles Activity – for ESL, Kindergarten and Primary Students Free Version

    $0.00

FREE VERSION of our most popular download series so far !

    over 20,000 so far!

    • This is a whole class activity that can be done in groups or pairs.
    • Students are given a board and the fruit/description and have to match the description to the fruit and glue it to the board
    • They go horizontal across the top and the bottom and vertically along the sides.
    • When you ( or the students) cut out the dominoes make sure there is a picture AND a description on the domino ( dominoes have two sides)
    • Make sure the students know how to glue them as sometimes they will stick them all at the top.
    • Once they have finished, they can complete the centre part of the board and describe their favourite fruit
    • I will add a started version at the bottom to give a rubric of sorts. ( the board should be printed on A3 and the dominoes on A4. )

I love doing this activity, it can be totally self directed by the students and they really practice reading and comprehension skills from this. It is a whole class activity that can be done in groups, pairs or individual. I much prefer giving it as an individual task so students have their own work to present and take home.

I have a video guide for you, which as this can be a little confusing i suggest you at least skip through it, but i will put the main details below as well.

Adjective ”UNO” type Card Game for Classrooms. Great for ESL, Kindergarten and Primary Students. Editable

    $1.00

This is the fully editable version so you are able to change it to suit your class and students.

I made some of the picture descriptions easy so some of the text in the pictures is also editable, if you want me to send through the others just drop me an email as well :P

This is a  great little game for ESL, Kindergarten and Primary students. It follows a simplified version of the popular card game UNO, and so students are likely to be familiar with the rules and game-play. I will put the rules below just in case as well.

It can be used as Uno cards, or as matching cards but you will need to go through and collect the opposites together, or look for the opposites set i will be putting on the store in a few days.

This is the adjective version of the game, and there are 48  different words and pictures. There are multiple opposites and synonyms as well if you wanted to introduce those ideas to your class These can be used as simple flashcards, but i have also put a simple sentence on the front as well asking them to find a synonym as well. You can change this anyway you want.

I have also included a design for the back if you want them to look a little more professional again you can change this if you want to!

By purchasing this you help us make more so we would like to thank you :)

  • Sale! y as a vowel worksheets

Y as a Vowel 3 worksheet bundle – Fully Editable

    $1.00

This is the fully editable version for you to put school name, or change the format. By purchasing it you ensure the website can be maintained and we thank you for that!

The letter ”y” can be both a consonant and a vowel. There are some rules we can teach our students to help them grasp the concept. Of course, this being English these rules are mostly true and there are exceptions to this as well.

As mentioned ”y” can be a consonant and a vowel. The ”y” usually makes the consonant sound when it is a the beginning of the word. Examples are words like yellow, yacht, yes, or you.

Just to be extra confusing the letter ”y’‘ has more than one vowel sound as well as the consonant sound at the beginning. There are some rules you can use to explain to your students. If the ”y” is at the end of the word, and it is a one syllable word (I will put syllable lessons for young learners on my site as well) like dry, try, buy, why then the ”y” will make the sound of a long i.

If the word has the ”y” at the end but it has two or more syllables then the sound of ”y” is the long e sound. Word examples include candy, actually, fundamentally, tiny, wavy and many many more.

To teach this i have some worksheets and word sorting activities you can check out and i will link to them at the bottom, but also if you need stories and some online games or activities I have found some on the StarFall website. This is a Y as Long e game you can check out.

The worksheets and sorting activities can help form part of a full phonics lesson if you want to teach this. They can be downloaded at the bottom, and if you want to add or edit it i will leave the PowerPoint premium version there as well.
