A set of five worksheets all focused on word families and short vowels using CVC word construction. I have split them into the separate long vowel sounds, A, E I, O and U. There are multiple activities on each worksheet to help different learning styles.
These worksheets are multi activity to help students and to keep them interested. There are writing, reading, colouring and word recognition tasks on each one.
Teaching this skill is the next step from single sound recognition and these tasks help students get skilled in blending the sounds together to make new words. there are five here, and i am in the process of making another set as well
If you need to change the words or images then i will put an editable version in the store, there are a few different phonic and vocabulary worksheets and activities in there. check the links at the bottom if you are interested.

These reading passages are leveled using the SMOG and Flesch Kincaid Grade Level. As with all things this is dependent on the background, prior knowledge and reading level of your students. These worksheets ask students to recognise images and words, so if the words are to specialised it could be played as a sound recognition exercise and the teacher could read the word to help the students listen and then circle.

I used something similar to these in my class for a few years now and i thought with the images i have now i can make them more student friendly. So that’s what i have done.
A set of five worksheets allowing students to easily become familiar with digraphs. The ones included here are SH – WH – CH – PH – TH. These are best taught through listening and speaking exercise so this worksheet could also be used as a bingo type activity or one the white board ( if you have access to one) but of course they work equally well as a worksheet as well
There are five different worksheets here all the same idea, and i am also putting ones for blends and other digraphs, trigraphs and other phonic rules. this however is the first so give me a little time 🙂

I used something similar to these in my class for a few years now and i thought with the images i have now i can make them more student friendly. So that’s what i have done.
The vowel worksheet i used to use was just one worksheet so i thought i could split that quite nicely into 6 vowel worksheets for A, E, I , O and U and then have one mixed for all the vowels.
That is what is in this file. 6 worksheets for you to help consolidate and teach the difference between long and short vowels.
Long vowels can be tricky to teach, so practice in recognizing the difference between long and short vowel sounds is a good way to help students get used to sounds.
