- Sing the Nursery Rhyme: A lot of Nursery Rhymes lend themselves to song. So a quick search on YouTube will find hundreds ( of carrying quality) This is especially useful for younger children as they love to sing, and it will help them practice in a group setting.
- Fit them into themed lessons. Usually Nursery rhymes have a story or lesson in them, they also invariably use animals or people and can be used in lessons that cover those topics.
- Singing, acting and reading are great skills should be part of every curriculum. Nursery rhymes as well as teaching vocabulary they can also be sued to teach rhyme, and alliteration among other aspects of English including writing reading and speaking.
- If more advanced students you can try to do creative writing and have students try create their own small nursery rhyme or poem.
- To add to your nursery rhymes, you can use the characters of nursery rhymes like a flashcard. The children can learn the rhyme while listening to the story.
- The children can also make their own story using the characters from nursery rhymes. They could also write another verse or finish the rhyme a different way.
- If you work with phonics, make a rhyming chart and have the children use it to recall words
