A set of rhyming CVC poems for students to practice reading CVC, high frequency and sight words. They are a little more difficult than the previous onset and rime readers but offer a more genuine experience. They also introduce rhyming for students ( in the form of a poem)
We have included four questions on each page, including at least one that covers reading comprehension strategies to try to introduce both these essential skills and higher order thinking.

Kindergarten Reading Comprehension has to introduced slowly and methodically. It needs to reinforce both Phonetic and sight words so students can develop both the confidence to use every day words, and the skills to blend sounds to make simple words
These simple easy to read lesson resources for younger learners of English help to achieve both of these aims. They are also able to be used as coloring resources to add a sense of ownership to the work. .
They have simple sentences followed by three simple questions. to help build that confidence. These can be guided during a lesson or self directed either at home or in a classroom.

These reading passages are leveled using the SMOG and Flesch Kincaid Grade Level. As with all things this is dependent on the background, prior knowledge and reading level of your students. Some will find it easier some will find it more difficult. So they are designed for you to use your professional judgement
