4 worksheets to help build vocabulary and recognition of initial sounds and three letter words, great for Kindergarten, ESL and Primary

These phonics worksheets are designed to help students practice and learn initial sounds and to learn some simple three letter vocabulary as well. They come with pictorial cues and in the other similar version they offer the opportunity for students to colour the pictures as well. They are designed for younger learners but of course can be used as you need to fit your own teaching environment.

Students can either work through this on their own or they can use it as a fill it the gaps exercise as the teachr reads the words and students try to work out the spelling and the sound of the first letter.

Teaching these skill is the a further step from single sound recognition and move on to word construction These will help students develop skills in blending and recognising sounds to make new words.
